Moo

Along came Moo

In April 2010 I fell pregnant. It came as quite a shock! We'd discussed our future, and children, but we certainly hadn't planned it in our one bedroom flat whilst I was finishing my final year at uni. However, I was bleeding, and continued to bleed for 4 weeks. After 3 scans and lots of worry, it was confirmed that the pregnancy had ended in miscarriage. It was heartbreaking. But now we knew we were ready for a little one in our lives. We moved into a house, I finished my degree, and in July 2010, we found out we were pregnant again!

At 6 weeks I began bleeding again. It's really hard to remain rationale when you're pregnant again after a miscarriage. I was absolutely certain that this was the beginning of a miscarriage and we were beside ourselves once again. However an emergency scan revealed something we'd never experienced before, a baby with a flicker; a heartbeat...

Baby at 6 weeks

After the bleeding subsided, the pregnancy progressed normally. At 20 weeks, in November 2010, we found out our bundle was a girl!!! We couldn't have been happier. We shopped for pink and completely embraced being first time parents to be.  Meanwhile my bump got bigger and bigger and bigger...

Bump at only 31 weeks

Finally, at 41 weeks, on 31st March 2011, I went into labour. Things progressed normally, and I was 4cm dilated by the time we arrived at hospital.

It was hard for him...

The midwives decided it would be a good idea to break my waters to 'speed things up.' This is when it all went a little down hill. With my waters gone, the pain became stronger and I ended up having more pain relief than I planned. Eventually, with epidural in place and completely bed bound, I was placed on a drip. It was the total opposite to the natural labour and birth I'd hoped for, and still I remained at 8cm. After around 5 hours with no progress, it was decided that our daughter would delivered by emergency caesarean. At 1.37am on 1st April 2011, our beautiful baby daughter was born weighing in at 9lb 15.5oz!

Daddy and Moo

After a couple of nights in hospital, we were able to bring our baby girl home on mother's day. The greatest mother's day ever!
